Resin Transfer Molding

Resin Transfer Molding is a higher tech process used to produce products featuring very high fiber/resin ratios.  The goal in most cases is to produce a finish on both sides instead of just one. RTM labor costs are lower than hand lay-up, and volume is higher.

Two matching female & male tools are used.  The female tool is gel coated as prescribed by our customer to a specific color.  Pre-cut fiberglass is then laid out in the female side.  The matching male tool is now ‘forced’ into the female tool with hydraulic pressure and secured.  Once both tools are secured, resin is forced through the fibers by vacuum.  When completed the male end is lifted out and the finished part is ready to remove
